Thermo-mechanical energy storage and its potential integration with renewable energy generation - University of Nottingham

Professor Seamus Garvey is the Professor of Dynamics at the University of Nottingham and the Director of the Rolls-Royce UTC in Gas Turbine Transmission Systems. He has extensive expertise in vibration engineering, including developing mathematical models, active and passive control of machine vibrations through a variety of techniques and using electrical machines to exert lateral forces. His current research areas include rotordynamics, particularly of laminated and high power density rotors; electrical machine modelling; power transmission in low-dimensional dynamic systems; an area of mathematics called "Structure Preserving Transformations" and energy storage systems based on compressed air.
